Troopers Arrest One After Motorcycle Pursuit

August 22, 2025 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol arrested one person after a pursuit overnight in eastern Nebraska.
At approximately 11:45 p.m. Thurday, a trooper saw a motorcycle speeding, with no license plates, on eastbound I-80 near the 56th Street interchange in Lincoln. The trooper attempted a traffic stop. The rider initially slowed down to approximately 75 miles per hour but refused to pull over. After a few minutes, the motorcycle accelerated and fled at a high rate of speed. The trooper initiated a pursuit.
The motorcycle reached speeds above 150 miles per hour and passed multiple vehicles on the shoulder as it continued fleeing eastbound on I-80. The NSP AirWing was activated and flew to the area east of Lincoln. The motorcycle exited I-80 and continued fleeing on northbound Highway 66. The NSP helicopter took over the pursuit from the air and the trooper on the ground discontinued the pursuit.
Pilots continued to track the motorcycle from the air as it continued fleeing. The rider traveled on various roads in Saunders County, then began traveling back toward Lincoln. After approximately 30 minutes, the motorcycle rider ran out of gas and came to a stop. The NSP helicopter directed troopers on the ground to the location on Highway 77 between Wahoo and Ceresco. The rider was taken into custody without further incident.
The rider, Travis Knipp, 29, of Omaha, was arrested for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, and numerous traffic violations. He was lodged in Lancaster County Jail. The Saunders County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in this pursuit.
