(Men's Game) - Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney men’s basketball team sunk a season-high 14 three pointers and got a combined 41 points from veterans Ja’Bryant Hill and Anthony Swift to hold off Chadron State, 84-79, Tuesday night at the Health & Sports Center.
This was the first of three RMAC games this week for the Lopers (6-5) as they travel to Regis Thurs. night and Metro State on Sat. afternoon. Meanwhile, the Eagles fell to 2-10.
UNK didn’t trail all night and by as many as 13 points, but CSC hung around thanks to a big effort from junior guard Jadon Cool (29 points) and a 20 of 26 effort at the line. Both teams had some key pieces out with the Lopers solving a zone by going 14 of 29 from behind the arc. Six different players hit at least one three with UNK getting out to early leads of 14-2 and 23-11.
Chadron trailed by nine at the break and got no closer than seven points until a late flurry at the end. An 8-0 spurt made it just a two-point game, 76-74, with 1:40 left. The key stretch featured two triples and two free throws. UNK countered when Swift (Las Vegas) nailed a triple from the top of the key, and CSC didn’t get closer than four the rest of the way. The Lopers made five of their last six freebies while the Eagles missed three of their last four shots.
Hill (Dallas) had 21 points, a career-high 11 assists and three steals with Swift at 20 points and seven boards. The pair combined to go 14 of 29 (7 of 13 threes) from the field with this being Hill’s first double double as a Loper. Next, sophomore wing Clayton Moore (Mullen) had 12 points and seven rebounds with senior reserve wing Tom Connelly (Denver) at 10 points and two o-boards. Finally, CSC was plus five on the glass but committed three more turnovers.
Besides Cool, Chadron got 16 points from senior guard Isaiah Randolph, 13 points from sophomore forward Ethan Russell and 11 rebounds from 6-8 freshman Luka Djurovic.
The Regis Rangers are currently 1-6 with the MSU Denver Roadrunners at 3-7.

(Women's Game)  Kearney, Neb. – Redshirt senior point guard Jillian Aschoff recorded the second triple double in school history as Nebraska Kearney blasted Chadron State, 90-46, Tuesday night at the Health & Sports Center.

The Lopers (6-6) now have a healthy 63-13 series lead over the Eagles (0-8).

Aschoff (Lincoln Pius X) began the year on pace to break UNK's career assist record (390, Alex Hogberg, '17) in early 2026. That timeline has moved a bit after a 15-point, 13-assist, 12-rebound effort tonight. Aschoff moves past Tami Tully (373; '95) into second place (383) and will need just eight more dimes on Sunday afternoon vs. South Dakota Mines.

Last year, senior wing Samantha Moore had UNK's first-ever triple double (16 points/10 rebounds/10 assists) in a home win over York. Tonight, Aschoff had a double double (11 points/10 rebounds/seven assists) at the break. Finally, Darcy Stracke holds the single game assist record with 14 in a Feb. 1998 win over Fort Hays State.

The two teams combined for just nine points over the first five minutes, but eventually the Lopers warmed up. They tallied at least 19 points in each quarter and ended up shooting 61% (36 of 59) from the field, the 10th best effort in school history. UNK also tallied 40 points off 29 Eagle miscues and was 10 of 12 at the line.

Diller freshman guard Myleigh Weers (22), Polish senior wing Malgorzata Byczkowska (11) and Kansas senior reserve point guard Saniya Simmons (10) all joined Aschoff as Lopers in double figures. Weers and Byczkowska each hit three triples with Simmons having seven of UNK's 19 steals. Finally, Blair true freshman Addie Sullivan tallied her first collegiate bucket as all 11 healthy Lopers played and scored.

A young Eagles team was led by junior guard Audrey Quintana who went 3 of 7 from behind the arc to score 16.

The Lopers and SDMT Hardrockers (4-6) battle Sunday at 1 p.m. to finish the fall semester.
