UPDATE: Snow Operations & Residential Street Snow Removal

The City of Kearney Street Division announces that snow removal operations have been continuous since early this morning. All highways, 4-lane arterial roadways, major collectors, and Emergency Snow Routes have been plowed. Due to the very cold temperatures, deicing chemicals will not be very effective in melting the snowpack and slick roadway conditions will be likely.

City crews have moved into residential areas and local streets, including downtown. Please understand that snow deposited within driveways and on curb sidewalks is unavoidable. As a courtesy to your neighbors and crew operators, please keep your vehicles off the streets if possible to improve the efficiency of the snow removal process.

According to the City Code, snow removed from private property shall not be placed in or upon public streets, alleys, sidewalks, or other public ways. Snow removed from private property must be kept and maintained on the property in a safe and sound condition. Vision clearance at intersections is important.

Please give the plow operators room to maneuver and expect frequent stops and turns when traveling near them.
