Wildcat Softball winners vs Boone Central
The St. Paul Softball team picked up their 14th win of the season on Senior Night Thursday versus a scrappy Boone Central Cardinal Squad by a final score of 10-7. The Cats would strike first scoring 5 runs in the first 2 innings before Boone Central would cut the gap down to 2 runs scoring 3 runs in the top of the 5th inning on a 2 out bases loaded double by Payton Sullivan that would clear the bases. The Wildcat bats woke up in the bottom half of the 6th bringing an additional 5 runs, with the difference maker coming from Audra Dugan with a 2 out single that scored Matti Stepanek for the Cats' 8th run of the contest before 2 extra insurance runs came across to make it 10-3. Boone Central didnt go down quietly putting a 4 spot up in the top of the 7th before Addy Wegner sealed the contest with a fly-out in foul territory to end the contest.
The Win gives St. Paul improves St. Paul to 14-7 while Boone Central drops to 19-8. Charlee Wegner earned Runza MVP of the game honors as she was dialed in throughout the night in the pitcher's circle throwing 12 strikeouts to put her over the century mark for the season with 107 total. The Cats shift their focus to Friday's Lou Platte Conference tournament in Grand Island at the Veteran's Sport Complex where they will face the CCV Diamonds to determine the season series between the 2 teams as the away team has come victorious in each contest. CCV took Game 1 in St. Paul 10-6 before St. Paul took Game 2 in Cairo 12-6.
