Work will begin on N-10, Kearney East Bridges

June 6, 2025 (Grand Island, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work will begin June 16 on Nebraska Highway 10 (N-10), from reference post 52+03 to reference post 55+08 in Buffalo County, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Weather permitting, preliminary bridge surveys will be conducted on June 9 and 10, requiring temporary lane closures.
Iowa Civil Contracting, Inc., of Victor, Iowa, is the contractor for this project. The scope of work includes polyester polymer concrete (PPC) bridge overlays, bridge expansion joint repairs, flume construction, guardrail modifications, and inertial barrier replacement.
The work will take place at several bridge locations, including structures over U.S. Highway 30 (US 30), Union Pacific Railroad, the Platte River North Channel and Interstate 80 (I-80). Traffic will be maintained using lane closures at all bridges, except the I-80 bridge, which will be closed and require a detour.
During the I-80 bridge closure:
-Eastbound I-80 traffic accessing N-10 will be detoured by exiting at Interchange 279 and traveling westbound to Interchange 275.
-Southbound N-10 traffic accessing eastbound I-80 will be detoured westbound from Interchange 275, then exiting at Interchange 272 to return eastbound.
A 12-foot width restriction will be in place for the duration of the project. Anticipated completion is late July 2025.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and put phones down.
