$3,750 Raised From Valentine’s Day ‘Singing Telegrams’

Grand Island, Neb. — The original cap set for ordering a Valentine’s Day ‘Singing Telegram’ featuring Jimmy Reed with Berkshire Hathaway and Sgt. Steve Sloan with the Grand Island Police Department was set at 20 and valued at $100 apiece.

However, support ramped up higher than expected for the cause centered around having five GIPD officers ride bicycles into Washington, D.C. for the national induction of former GIPD Officer Chris Marcello into the National Police Officers Memorial.

Instead of $2,000, Hall County Crime Stoppers and the Grand Island Police Department ended up raising $3,750 with funds and donations still coming in at the time of this release. Both Jimmy and Sgt. Sloan made approximately 35 stops including 27 scheduled stops on Valentine’s Day.

Facebook lives were posted throughout the day on the Hall County Crime Stoppers Page.
