A Sodbuster Split
Hastings rallied late twice, but settled for a split of a doubleheader with the Nebraska Prospects.
Jack Kruger is featured in a Sodbuster spotlight below. He worked six strong innings, but didn't figure in the decision. Fred Juden worked two strong innings in relief. Braden Cork suffered his first loss after he gave up two earned runs in the 9th.
The Sodbusters stranded 15 and had great chances to win with the bases loaded, one out, and three already home in the 7th. They had first and second and no outs in the 8th in a tie game, bus couldn't score there either. Drew Vega, Josh Prinner, and Ryan Jarvis each had two hits.
In the late game, Jackson Crain's RBI single in the sixth gave the Busters the lead. Tyler Welsh added an insurance run as Hastings score three in the inning for a 4-2 win. Vega had two more hits in the contest. Zander Hardy worked two scoreless innings for his first win of the year. Jude Sundquist gutted out five innings to keep Hastings close.
