CASA, First Light Team Up for Inaugural Fundraiser

Grand Island, Neb. --- In the name of child advocacy, Heartland CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and First Light Child Advocacy Center are joining forces to host a fun-filled “Flappers & Felonies” fundraiser to ignite awareness for victims of child abuse and neglect.

On Friday, September 13, the two agencies are hosting a 1920’s murder mystery dinner with doors opening at 5pm and the dinner starting at 6 p.m. The event features a live auction as well as raffle prize drawings, which all surrounds a meal guaranteed to challenge attendees trying to solve an interactive mystery.

“It was a no-brainer for our two organizations to join forces,” said First Light Child Advocacy Center Director Leah Smilie. “We both care about the well-being of children, and we know the importance of working together to advocate for their best interests.”

The mystery dinner is a collaborative effort that aims to unify the Grand Island community in the fight against child abuse and neglect.

“Attending or contributing to our ‘Flappers & Felonies’ fundraiser allows us to carry out our mission in our community and surrounding towns,” CASA Director Erin Howe said. “With your support, we can bring comfort to a child in need and give them hope for a better future.”

Guests are encouraged to dress in their 1920s best – from flapper dresses to mobster suits, knickerbockers and more! Tickets are two for $175 or $500 for a table of six.
