CHI Health Awards $155,850 to Three Local Non-Profits
Kearney & Grand Island-CHI Health recently awarded $155,850 to three local non-profit collaborations to help aid in the critical health and human services they provide to central Nebraska. The Community Health Improvement Grants address some of the greatest health needs in the region by emphasizing prevention, engaging diverse community stakeholders and building upon existing services in the community.
CHI Health Good Samaritan awarded $65,000 to Buffalo County Community Partners and $20,000 to HelpCare Clinic–Kearney-based agencies the hospital helped establish. In fitting with the hospital’s mission, each is dedicated to positively impacting health and well-being through strategic planning, a shared vision and providing health care service for vulnerable and underserved populations.
“Partnering with local nonprofits who share our vision and mission of improving the health of the people we serve, especially those who are vulnerable, is essential to the well-being of our community. Sharing Humankindness is a big task, but if we all work together there is nothing we can’t accomplish,” said Cindi Richter, director, Good Samaritan Foundation.
The Multicultural Coalition of Grand Island received $70,850 from CHI Health St. Francis. In fitting with the hospital’s mission, the coalition helps newcomers overcome barriers, including housing, employment, insurance and citizenship, to build a better life.
“The Community Grants Program is one of the many ways St. Francis puts our mission and values into practice. Collectively, our efforts will have a significant impact in the lives of underserved populations in our area,” said Melissa Griffith, director, St. Francis Foundation.
