GI Woman Dies in Hamilton County Crash

On 5-23-24, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office received numerous 911 calls of a single vehicle rollover accident on Highway 34 between Y and Z roads. Deputies found a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee was eastbound on Highway 34 and left the roadway and entered the north ditch of the highway. The vehicle then rolled several times, eventually striking a grain bin. During this crash the driver, Hannah Petersen, 39, of Grand Island was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to York General Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol, Hampton Fire Department and Aurora Fire Department.
