Grand Island church after a fire torched the building.
GRAND ISLAND - A Grand Island church caught fire Sunday morning. The Grand Island Fire Department was dispatched to the former Harvest Time Church on 1125 Beal St around 5:00 a.m. to a report of flames coming out of the church.
Battalion Chief Justin Farris says his crews arrived to smoke throughout the building and fire coming out of a window. The department made forcible entry into the building. He said the fire was knocked down in roughly 15 minutes. No one was in the building at the time of the fire and no one was injured.
It was determined that a faulty furnace caused the fire.
Farris says he expects the church to be a total loss.
The church held a service the evening before. They do not have insurance on the building.
