Heritage Day at Yanney Park

The Kearney Park and Recreation Department is coordinating Heritage Day at Yanney Park on Saturday, June 1, 2024.

Following is the Heritage Day Schedule:
-9:00 a.m. Sue Bush Memorial 5k Run/Walk and Kids Lake Loop. Register by May 23, 2024, to receive a t-shirt. All ages, call 237-4644 for more information.
-10:00 a.m. Tai Chi on the lawn. Join us on the Yanney Pavilion lawn for Tai Chi to start your day.
-10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Botanical Garden Tour & Learning Stations. Enjoy The Gardens during a walking tour, discover a new plant at one of the learning stations, and Thank-A-Volunteer with Chalk Art.
-11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Family Fishing Day presented by Nebraska Game & Parks Commission. Cabela’s fishing poles to the first 100 kids. Adults need to have a Nebraska Fishing License.
-11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Free Lunch by the Kearney Optimist Club. Hot dog, chips and a treat served while supplies last.
-11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Concessions/Marina Open.
-11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Touch-A-Truck. Get hands on with some of our local vehicles.
-12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Giant Coloring Pages. Stop by the ERC building to have some fun coloring on our gigantic pages!
-12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cabela’s Kayak & Stand Up Paddleboard Test Drives.
-12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Storybook Walk, starts at Mitzi’s Pavilion. Enjoy a walk around the park while reading “Finders Keepers” by Keiko Kasza. Walk starts at Mitzi’s Pavilion.
-1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Disc Golf Challenge. Test your skills throwing a disc with Kearney Area Disc Golf Club. Visit the booth for competitions and prizes. North of the Tower.
-1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. BINGO! at Peterson Senior Activity Center, all ages welcome.
-3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Balloon Twisting. Radamacher Shelter
-4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Yanney Bash. Inflatables, Games & Activities.
-4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Food Fair at Peterson Senior Activity Center Roundabout. We provide services, solutions, and opportunities for our community.
-5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Musical Entertainment:
-5:30 p.m. – Rascal Martinez
-6:45 p.m. – Nate Keim
 -8:30 p.m. – The Talbott Brothers
-Approx. 10:00 p.m. – Fireworks Finale

There is not an admission for Heritage Day, but a free-will donation is encouraged during the concerts. Please contact the Park & Recreation Department at (308) 237-4644 for more information. Parking is limited, so car-pooling is recommended.
