Hundreds Attend Parks & Recreation Open House
Grand Island, Neb. — Residents of Grand Island made their voices heard on Tuesday, June 4 during the first of two public open houses regarding the Grand Island Parks & Recreation Master Plan.
Attendees were able to pick which features they’d like to see in the Grand Island park system in future years. While open opinions were welcome, other items like miniature golf, more pickleball courts and a permanent outdoor movie screen also gained traction.
“It was nice to see,” Grand Island Parks & Recreation Director Todd McCoy said. “It confirms what we thought. People really appreciate their parks, and the crowd we had last night came out in full force and gave us some great ideas.”
What’s next for the Parks & Recreation Department are more steering committee meetings. Those behind the effort will take Tuesday’s public input and better shape the future of Grand Island’s parks. Following multiple committee meetings, another open house is set for November.
