Kearney Tackles Cancer Kicks-off Annual Shirt Sales to Help Local Cancer Patients

KEARNEY, Neb. – Kearney Public Schools, Kearney Catholic School and CHI Health Good Samaritan Cancer Center are gearing up for the 15th annual Kearney Tackles Cancer (KTC). The student-led cancer awareness campaign has raised more than $600,000 for local cancer patients since 2009.

KCT T-shirt sales, the group’s primary fundraiser, have started and will continue until Dec. 9. This year’s commemorative design features a lavender cancer awareness ribbon which represents all forms of cancer. Visit http:ktc2024.itemorder.com to place an order. A limited supply of cash and carry KCT shirts will also be available starting in late December at the hospital’s Sure Cure Gift Shop.

The community is encouraged to wear their KTC apparel at the following upcoming home high school basketball games–Jan. 10 at Kearney Catholic and Jan. 17 at Kearney High.

“We are humbled and grateful for the ongoing energy and support for this cause that directly benefits our patients,” says Dana Welsh, RN, supervisor, Good Samaritan Cancer Center and adult sponsor of KTC organization.

All KTC proceeds will directly impact local cancer patients who are struggling financially during treatment by helping to pay for medications, travel expenses and other living expenses.

Follow Kearney Tackles Cancer on Facebook for updated information on shirt sales and future events. For more information, contact Dana Welsh at (308) 865-7886 or (308) 440-9711.
