Lincoln County Shooting Suspect Arrested

On 5-15-2004 Lincoln County Deputies were dispatched to 510 Linden Street in Sutherland.  This is the home of Victor Finley.  He reported that Shane Halcott was intoxicated and refused to leave.   Deputies escorted Halcott from the residence and he was told not to return.  An hour later deputies were dispatched back to the residence because Halcott had returned.  Two minutes later, while deputies were enroute, Halcott called 911 from his residence at 621 Fern Street and advised dispatch that he was going to load his shotgun and teach them some respect.  At the same time, Victor Finley and his friends, Daniel Zogg and Wiley Current arrived at Halcott’s residence and yelled at him from the city sidewalk.  Halcott exited the house with a shotgun and fired three rounds into the air.  The three men got into their vehicles and drove a short distance down the street.  Halcott went back into his house and reloaded his shotgun.  This time when he came out, he shot at the two vehicles.  One vehicle had several spots where the pellets had damaged the paint.  The second vehicle had over 100 punctures from the shotgun pellets.  No one was injured.  Deputies ordered Halcott to exit the house.  He followed the orders and was taken into custody.  He was arrested for shooting at an occupied vehicle, class IC felony,  Use of a firearm to commit a felony, class IC felony,  Terroristic Threats, class IIIA felony,  Disturbing the Peace, class III misdemeanor.  Halcott told deputies the he regretted doing it and it was not a smart decision.  He is housed in the Lincoln County Detention Center.
