Northwest Softball Claims 5th Straight Conference Championship

(Seward, NE) - The Northwest Viking softball team would claim their 5th straight Central Conference softball tournament championship on Thursday. On the day Northwest would score 37 runs only giving up 3. The Vikings would defeat Lexington 13-0, Aurora 13-2, and Crete in the championship 11-1. Northwest would have a total of 34 hits. In the Lexington game, Libby Loman would pitch a no-hitter having 10 strikeouts. The Vikings would also have two home runs on the day coming from Laiken Dorsey. To go along with the two dingers Dorsey on the day in the three games would go 7 for 7 with 11 RBIs, two doubles, and a triple. Northwest's home run total on the season is now 43. 

The Vikings are now 26-1 on the season and will host the opening postseason sub-district round on Monday, October 7th at the Vets Complex in Grand Island. Northwest will take on Lexington at 2:00 pm. Following at 4:00 pm Hastings battles Hwy6. The winners of the two games will take on each other at 6:00 pm. Northwest games will air live on 103.1 FM & 2dayfm1031.com.
