Taste of GI Coming in April

People in the Grand Island area will soon have a chance to taste a variety of foods and beverages from local businesses under one roof while helping raise money for two nonprofit programs.

The Grand Island Rotary Club will present “Taste of Grand Island” on April 13th between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 P.m. at the Aurora Cooperative Pavilion at Fonner Park. Proceeds will benefit Youth Leadership Tomorrow and Rotary International Polio Plus.

“It’s an opportunity to celebrate the best food, the best drink and the best people,” said Jessica Hendricks, Grand Island Rotary Club president.

The evening will feature dishes from a number of restaurants and food catering companies, along with a variety of beverages from local businesses, including beer, wine, and locally made soda.

The vendors are donating their time and their goods, which Hendricks said the Rotary Club appreciates.

Tickets are $30 each for anyone 21 years of age or older, and will allow an attendee to try all the different foods and a number of the beverages since some of the drinks contain alcohol.

The Rotary Club wanted to help a local nonprofit and chose Youth Leadership Tomorrow because of the importance of developing young leaders in the community. Young people who have gone through the program received life-changing benefits from it.

The event will also feature a silent auction with a wide variety of items including trips, furniture, Hornady gun safe, pizza grill, Sunheat outdoor misting fan, artwork, portable spa, Indianhead golf pass, and lots more.

Tickets may be purchased from Leadership Unlimited, CopyCat Printing, Grand Island Tourism, or any Rotary member.
