Threats Made Against Northwest - Student Taken Into Custody

Grand Island Northwest high school Viking Mascot.

(Grand Island, NE) - In a letter to district patrons from Superintendent Dr. Jeff Edwards.

At 3:11 PM this afternoon (Thursday, September 12th), we were notified by law enforcement that a High School student had made a threat against the school.  The student was immediately brought to the office and law enforcement arrived shortly after and questioned the student.  No weapon was found.  Law enforcement met with the parents and took the student into custody.

We would like to thank law enforcement for the swift notification and response to this situation.  Any threat that we receive is investigated promptly and will be dealt with at the highest extent possible.  The safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority.
